Overview: In this episode, I talk with mom Sandra Mikulic about overcoming limiting beliefs about yourself that stop you from being the person you’re meant to be.

Excerpt #1: "We talk about mental health being important, but what's important is being open to what you have, and being open to the fact that it's gonna be a journey to heal. And actually, what's crazy? What's crazy is the journey never ends." Sandra and I discuss the fact that moms struggling with their mental health often feel like it’s something they have to overcome, as if the finish line is the end of the race. In fact, as Sandra points out, it’s a journey to come back to yourself. To feel like yourself again. But we have to keep in mind that the journey to a healthy mind is a lifetime long.

Excerpt #2: “I sometimes think my kids hate me. But they love me…it’s weird. I’m such a bad mom, why do you love me? But they love you unconditionally.” In those hard moments of motherhood (of which I’ve had plenty), it’s easy to question yourself as a mother. You feel anxious and depressed, like you’re not cut out for the job. As Sandra mentions, regardless of what we think of ourselves, our children love us without question. They will never view us as bad parents, and they’re looking to connect and feel seen, no matter their own struggles.

Excerpt #3: "You were meant to do this. This is not accidental. This is how your journey needed to happen. But this was meant to be, for you and me." While Sandra and I share the triumphs and struggles in our lives as mothers, we talk about how the choices we make are no accident. There is good that can come out of everything - like starting a podcast (me), or beginning a new fitness routine (Sandra), or changing the tone in which you parent your children (me again).

Your turn: When we push our limiting beliefs aside, we can discover our true selves and be confident in our ability to do hard things, like parenting out-of-the-box kids! What limiting beliefs have held you back in motherhood? DM me on Instagram @on.the.hard.days and share your thoughts with me! You are a rockstar, Mama!
