In recent years, it has become more popular to see cities outside the top four (New York, London, Milan, and Paris) hosting a successful Fashion Week.
When Tiffany Hager started her online boutique www.LoveOfDresses.com she became involved in the Jacksonville fashion scene and right away began to put together what would be one of Jacksonville’s premiere events. “I discovered there was so much talent in Jacksonville, so many of these individuals are nationally recognized and I felt that there should be an outlet to highlight and showcase their work.”
This is the second year Jacksonville has held a Fashion Week and I’m really excited to see what they have changed or improved upon.
Last night, a panel of industry experts gave background stories on how they started their careers and answered questions from the crowd.
I was fortunate enough to have exclusive time with a few of them and was really pleased to learn that all these New Yorkers were nearly giddy about Jacksonville’s sudden rise into the ranks. The running theme as I was chatting with them is a dream to do more. That fire to succeed at something that may seem out of reach, even their varied backgrounds tell you that these people took a chance and went outside their roles in life to pursue what they were passionate about.
It goes beyond long legs and bright lights and is inspiring, even for those who could care less about fashion.
If you have not purchased tickets already, you can buy them at the door. The shows are not only fun, but they are a great opportunity to network with people who have a wide variety of backgrounds.
